Who is this course for?
This course is designed for people don't have enough practical experience to get a job in IT, who want to pursue a career in IT or would like to get a better job in IT by learning Networking and Servers.
You should really have an understanding of how computers work and connect to each other and what an operating system is.
This is not a Dummies Guide course, it's intermediate to advanced, but you'll understand more every week, as you'll see on the Course Menu.
No matter which part of the course you wish to take, you must complete Week 1 to qualify for the rest of the course, as we have to make sure you understand the fundamentals before continuing to the good stuff.
We have many different types of students coming through our doors, but the people who leave and get the best jobs are the ones who have a genuine interest in IT.
Jamie from Renfrew
Worked in a call centre, but did homers at night. He would take PC's apart and do the usual memory upgrades, software rebuilds etc, but wanted a proper IT job.
* Update - Now he works as a network administrator in Glasgow.
Paul from East Kilbride
Self employed PC repairer who had 3 engineers doing hardware & software repairs on PC's, but not any Server experience. The company wanted to sell and maintain Servers for customers in Glasgow.
* Update - Paul went onto this course for 6 weeks and now services 30 customers, 300 PC's and 25 Servers in the Glasgow area.
John from Beith
Unemployed, but made ends meet by fixing PC's for his mates and wanted a job in IT. He knew a lot about building PC's and connecting them, but knew nothing about Networks and Servers.
* Update - Started his own business fixing PC's & Servers in Paisley
As you can see, you don't have to be an expert to take this course, but if you don't know one end of a PC from the other, maybe this course is not for you.
